SMITHSON, John O. (Rev.) – Attends Family Reunion (1908)

Title:  8 Children Present – First Meeting of the Family Since About Thirty Years

A reunion of the SMITHSON family was held at the home of W.E. ADCOCK, south of the city, Wednesday, where Mrs. J.C. SMITHSON lives.  All of her children were present, the first time in 35 years, that the entire family has been together.  Those present were Mrs. Emma J. ADCOCK, Jas. A. SMITHSON, Thos. A. SMITHSON of Oklahoma, Chas. W. SMITHSON, L.H. SMITHSON, Mrs. Mollie TURNER, of Keysburg; Mrs. Mattie BAGBY, of Lafayette, and Rev. John O. SMITHSON, of Calhoun, Ky.,  One grown sister and two infant brothers died many years ago.  It was a happy family gathering and the venerable lady and her eight children enjoyed the day all to themselves.  There are many grandchildren, but no effort was made to get them together.  The family group was photographed by W.R. BOWLES.  The five sons are all good and substantial citizens, the youngest being a Methodist minister.  The ladies are worthy daughters of the pious Christian mother.
